Cambridge Training & Development have an international reputation for the design and development of educational software using an array of technologies.
As a senior developer I often take a technical lead role in multiple active projects; juggling them based on priorities that change almost daily. The separate production and testing departments very much rely on the flow of work via the software department.
Projects vary from small information only sites to large bespoke learning portals, using open source applications such as Joomla and Moodle; to mobile activities; to CD and VLE based interactive learning materials created with our in-house SCORM authoring tool.
My role here was diverse and dynamic. Working within a manufacturing environment I was solely responsible for the entire company's web strategy. I worked directly with both the marketing and sales departments as well as the R&D department in South Africa .
My main duties included:
Other duties included the design, build and management of:
Due to the relatively small size of the company, I worked in most areas of the business. Ranging from meeting clients and preparing time estimates for jobs, through to designing concepts for various projects and occasionally leading a small design team.
The majority of my time was spent hands on, building sites, adding client-side and server-side functionality; working along side other developers. Almost all multimedia and CD-ROM related work was my responsibility. I have worked on projects for several large companies, including Nelson Bakewell, Pearson Education and Simoco.
Played a key role in the creation and maintenance of several popular sites (all with a strong adult content) on behalf of high profile media groups.
My role involved working closely with the 3D graphic designers, programmers and editors to ensure the smooth running of development and maintenance. Strict time management and planning was essential at all times.
Other than the usual web design and build responsibilities, I also undertook Live Cam set-ups and maintenance as well as basic movie editing. I have also had official training in Intershop development (a high-end off-the-shelf e-commerce package), the skills of which I have put to test in the creation of 2 successful on-line shops.
Computer International Services developed Web sites for corporate companies. My main duties were the design and build of the sites.
